PRAYER OF EXAMEN
At the beginning of this journey when we asked to stay home, I challenged you all to embrace some kind of spiritual practice during this season - to USE this as a time of cultivating your relationship with God instead of being led into an unhealthy isolation by the enemy!
I am going to introduce a different discipline as we continue to stay home - the Prayer of Examen! This is a practice that can be used individually and with friends and loved ones.
This is a version of the five-step Daily Examen that St. Ignatius practiced:
1. Become aware of God’s presence.
2. Review the day with gratitude.
3. Pay attention to your emotions.
4. Choose one feature of the day and pray from it.
5. Look toward tomorrow.
Give it a try - hopefully, it will help you to cultivate an awareness of God throughout your day and it will give you a renewed sense of discernment as you consider God’s presence in your life!
