JULY 26, 2020 - CGKIDS

Parents -

Below are some resources for our children in children’s ministry. Please note that our Preschool - 3rd grade children are hearing the same story so that portion of the resources for the Sunday will be the same. The response options are different and have been created to be age appropriate. However, if you choose to reenact the story, you can have all ages participate. If you have multiple children in your family the Godly Play option for the K/1 grade room is a good option to adapt to all family members.

I want to highlight some resources for you to talk to your children about race, racism and diversity.

** It’s back!! We will have a Summer CGKIds Check-in today at 11:15. I sent a link to parents via email. If you don’t receive the link and your child would like to participate, please email me at jody@cgnortheast.org.**

Next week, August 2, we have something excited planned! We are going to have a Graduation Sunday parade! We hope you will join us as you drive through our church parking lot. We’ll have some of our teachers there to cheer your kids on and celebrate them! We’ll start at 11:45 am on August 2nd.

For Our Toddler children:

  1. Pray with your toddler. It can be something simple like - God we thank you for today. Thank you for Jesus and we thank you that He loves each of us. Thank you for Noah and for him building an ark!

  2. Sing The Arky, Arky Song (Rise and Shine)

  3. Watch the video above with today’s story.

  4. God sent out a dove to see if it was drying out and safe. Color this!.

For Our Preschool Room children:

  1. Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. Thank you for all the stories in Your book.

  2. Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.

  3. Watch the video above of our Godly Play story.

  4. Wonder - Answer the wondering questions on the video.

  5. Respond - Have your child build a temple in your house with sheets, blankets etc. Think like building a fort but have them build something to house all the things that were talked about in the video and to create a special place to come close to God. Read a Bible story in the space when you are finished.

  6. Sing with Mr. Larry and Ms. Gayle’s video.

For Our Kindergarten and 1st Grade children:

  2. Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.

  3. Watch the video above.

  4. Wonder - answer the wondering questions from the video.

Gayle’s video or sing This is Amazing Grace.

For Our 2nd and 3rd grade children:

  1. Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. Thank you for sending us your Son, Jesus. Please help us make others aware of Jesus’ love for them and how He gave to save us from our sins.

  2. Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.

  3. Watch the video above.

  4. In addition to those wondering questions in the video, think about these and journal:I wonder if you have a special place that you go to be close to God?

  5. Respond -

  6. Read today’s story in the Bible. It is in a couple of places: 2 Samuel 6:1-3; 2 Chronicles 3-5.

  7. Sing This is Amazing Grace.

For Our 4th and 5th Graders:

  1. Have your child say a prayer before they start.

  2. Read Ecclesiastes 3:11-14.

  3. Find a sheet of copy paper and imagine the most amazing place. It could be real or something that you make up.

  4. Read John 14:2-3

  5. On the other side of your paper, draw your dream room.

  6. It is fun to imagine. Jesus gave us hints of what heaven will be like. Look at what you drew for your imaginary land and your dream room. What God has for in heaven won’t even come close to what we can imagine. It will be so much better and we will be with God forever!

  7. Sing This is Amazing Grace.

*4th and 5th grade lesson has been adopted from Orange’s Focus Summer Curriculum.
