JUNE 14, 2020 - CGKIDS
Parents -
Below are some resources for our children in children’s ministry. Please note that our Preschool - 3rd grade children are hearing the same story so that portion of the resources for the Sunday will be the same. The response options are different and have been created to be age appropriate. However, if you choose to reenact the story, you can have all ages participate. If you have multiple children in your family the Godly Play option for the K/1 grade room is a good option to adapt to all family members.
I want to highlight some resources for you to talk to your children about race, racism and diversity.
This book comes in a kid version and then also has a parent companion book if you are interested.
This book explores how God made us all different.

For Our Toddler children:
Pray with your toddler. It can be something simple like - God we thank you for today. Thank you for Jesus and we thank you that He loves each of us. Thank you for changing Paul’s life!
Watch the video above with today’s story.
Today we continue talking about God’s creation and how God created different animals. Color this coloring page.
For Our Preschool Room children:
Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. We thank you for how the Bible teaches us about Jesus and You!

In addition to wondering who was the neighbor to the person who was hurt and had everything taken from him, think about the following:
I wonder what it means to be a neighbor?
I wonder if you have had anyone be a good neighbor to you?
I wonder if you have been like the Good Samaritan and been a good neighbor?
How can you be a good neighbor to others right now?
Respond to the story - Make a collage or drawing of who is your neighbor.
Sing with Mr. Larry and Ms. Gayle’s video or sing Who You Say I Am.
For Our 2nd and 3rd grade children:

Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.
Watch the video above.

Read today’s story in the Bible - Luke 10:25 - 37
Sing Who You Say I Am.
For Our 4th and 5th Graders:
Have your child say a prayer before they start.
Read Isaiah 43:18-19. Knowing Jesus can change how you see your problems and your worries. Write down your worries on one side of the paper and then think about God will be with you, how He can teach you. If you have problems seeing how your worries can turn into a teachable moment, ask Jesus to help.
Read Ephesians 4:22-24
Jesus changes the way you see everything, and when you see things differently, you live differently. We get rid of the “old” things we did and bring in new things. This is kind of like purging things from a closet. Clean out your closet and see if there are some old things that you need to get rid of. What will you do with them: throw them away? Recycle? Donate? As you talk to your parent about these things, talk about bad habits that you can get rid of.
