MARCH 22 - CGKIDS
Parents -
Below are some resources for our children in children’s ministry. Please note that our Preschool - 3rd grade children are hearing the same story so that portion of the resources for the Sunday will be the same. The response options are different and have been created to be age appropriate. However, if you choose to reenact the story, you can have all ages participate.
If you have multiple children in your family the Godly Play option for the K/1 grade room is a good option to adapt to all family members.
For Our Toddler children on March 22:
Pray for your toddler. It can be something simple like - God we thank you for today. Thank you for all you teach us through your Bible and the stories that are in it. Amen.
Sing This is the Day.
Watch the video above with today’s story.
Ask your child - do you know anyone who is sick? Let’s pray for them together!
Have your child color this coloring page.
For Our Preschool Room children on March 22:
Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. We thank you for your Word and your Son. We pray that we learn something new about you today. Amen.
Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.
Watch the video above of our Godly Play story. The video will lead the children through some wondering.
Respond to the story - If you have sand paper around the house, take a sheet and cut shapes into. Place the shape under a piece of white paper and roll a crayon over. Old crayons where you can take off the wrapper and lay the crayon flat are best. Another good response option is kinetic sand.
Sing with Mr. Larry and Ms. Gayle’s video. We won’t be singing together on Palm Sunday Sunday, but this is fun to sing in anticipation of Holy Week coming up.

Respond to the story - Have the children journal their thoughts by answering one of the following set of questions:
I wonder what Jesus’ work is going to be?
I wonder what it was like to be in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights.
Have your child find the story of Jesus’ time in the desert in their Bible. (Matthew 4:1-11,Mark 1:12-13, Luke 4:1-13). Have them read the story.

Read Luke 22:14-20.
Have your child journal the answers to the following: Why do you think Jesus was looking forward to the Passover meal with His disciples? What did he share with them?
Have your child think about communion at CGNE and relate it to the story? Why bread and why juice? Why did Jesus want his disciples to do this? Why do we each Sunday?
Sing All of My Heart. There are some fun hand motions!

My friend, Clair White, who is a Midtown elder, interim Midtown children’s director and a child and youth counselor, has created this video in regards to talking to kids about COVID 19.
Stay tuned as we piece together more children’s resources and activities as they are home from school.
