MAY 24, 2020 - CGKIDS
Parents -
Below are some resources for our children in children’s ministry. Please note that our Preschool - 3rd grade children are hearing the same story so that portion of the resources for the Sunday will be the same. The response options are different and have been created to be age appropriate. However, if you choose to reenact the story, you can have all ages participate. If you have multiple children in your family the Godly Play option for the K/1 grade room is a good option to adapt to all family members.
For Our Toddler children:
Pray with your toddler. It can be something simple like - God we thank you for today. Thank you for Jesus and we thank you that He loves each of us. Thank you for changing Paul’s life!
Sing Jesus Loves Me.
Watch the video above with today’s story.
Have your child color this coloring page.
For Our Preschool Room children:
Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. We thank you for how the Bible teaches us about Jesus and You!
Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.
Watch the video below of our Godly Play story.
Wonder - Have your child wonder what was his/her favorite part of the story. I mention a couple of other wondering questions in the video. Please have your child ignore them because they are a little more advanced and are better suited for the older classes.
Respond to the story - Jesus Ascension
You will need a styrofoam cup or plastic cup (blue would be idea), a piece of yarn, tape, crayons, Jesus cut-out (Please see attached document)
Color and cut out Jesus. Attach a piece of yarn to Jesus about 5 or 6 inches. Tape one end of the yarn to the top of Jesus head.
Punch a hole in the top of the cup and tie the other end of the yarn to the cup so that you can pull Jesus up into the sky/clouds to ascend into heaven.
Sing with Mr. Larry and Ms. Gayle’s video.
For Our Kindergarten and 1st Grade children:

Respond to the story by journaling thoughts to the following:.The disciples have been on a roller coaster. Jesus died on the cross. Then, He was resurrected and interacted with the disciples. He then said he was going away and God was sending someone in His place. Jesus left and the disciples were left waiting for the Holy Spirit. What do you think was the hardest for the disciples? What would have been the hardest for you to understand? Do you think the disciples saw God’s Big Plan?

For Our 4th and 5th Graders:
Have your child say a prayer before they start.
Pentecost is coming up next weekend (May 31). We are continuing to talk about Philip. Read Act 8:31-39
Journal the following: Who is this Scripture about? How did Philip know? What did Philip say? What happened to the official and Philip?
In the verses that you read today, can you spot any of the spiritual disciplines we have been talking about this year?
Sing This I Believe.
