Parents -

Below are some resources for our children in children’s ministry. Please note that our Older Preschoolers - 3rd grade children are hearing the same story so that portion of the resources for the Sunday will be the same. The response options are different and have been created to be age appropriate. However, if you choose to reenact the story, you can have all ages participate. If you have multiple children in your family the Godly Play option for the K/1 grade room is a good option to adapt to all family members.

For Our Younger Preschool children:

  1. Pray with your toddler. It can be something simple like - God we thank you for today. Thank you for Jesus and we thank you that He loves each of us. Thank you for changing Paul’s life!

  2. Sing Jesus Loves Me

  3. Watch the video above with today’s story.

  4. Have your child color this coloring page.

For Our Older Preschool Room children:

  1. Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. We thank you for how the Bible teaches us about Jesus and You!

  2. Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.

  3. Watch the video above of our Godly Play story.

  4. Wonder - Have your child wonder what was his/her favorite part of the story. I mention a couple of other wondering questions in the video. Please have your child ignore them because they are a little more advanced and are better suited for the older classes.

  5. Respond to the story - stop light

    1. You need Green, yellow and red construction paper, glue or white copy paper and crayons

    2. If you have a large circle hole punch, use it to create circles to recreate a stoplight. If you don’t have the kids draw a stop light on copy paper.

    3. Help your child write “Go! Tell people about Jesus!”

For Our Kindergarten and 1st Grade children:

  1. Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. We thank you that your Son died for us and that we get to know Him and follow Him. Amen.

  2. Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.

  3. Watch the video above.

  4. Have you child wonder about their favorite part of the story and where they see themselves in the story. Now is a good time to have a discussion about the end of the story talking about followers and leaders and sheep and shepherds. God wants us to follow Jesus but He also wants us to lead others to Him. We can be both leaders and followers! The disciples were put into a leadership role that they hadn’t been in previously. This is part of knowing Jesus in a new way!

  6. Read today’s story in the Bible - Matthew 28:16-20.

  7. Sing This I Believe.

For Our 2nd and 3rd grade children:

  1. Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. Thank you for sending us your Son, Jesus. Please help us make others aware of Jesus’ love for them and how He gave to save us from our sins.

  2. Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.

  3. Watch the video above.

  4. I asked a wondering question about if you are a leader or a follower when it comes to Jesus? As a parent (or a kid to talk to your parent), now is a good time to have a discussion about the end of the story talking about followers and leaders and sheep and shepherds. God wants us to follow Jesus but He also wants us to lead others to Him. We can be both leaders and followers! The disciples were put into a leadership role that they hadn’t been in previously. This is part of knowing Jesus in a new way!

  5. Respond to the story by journaling thoughts to the following:. I wonder how the disciples felt about Jesus telling them to go everywhere and tell Jesus' story.  I wonder how you would feel if Jesus asked you to go to a new place and tell Jesus' story. I wonder how you and I can share Jesus' story with others.

  6. Read today’s story in the Bible - Matthew 28:16-20.

  7. Sing This I Believe.

For Our 4th and 5th Graders:

  1. Read Acts 9:1-19.

  2. In your journal, describe Saul. What happened to him? Would you have been Saul’s friend?

  3. Paul became a follower of Jesus and lived a life with God. He did this by practicing spiritual disciplines. We have been studying these throughout the school year in our children’s ministry class. Write down each of these disciplines: Meditation, Prayer, Fasting, Study and Solitude. Next to each one write down how you practice each one. Are there some you haven’t practiced but would like to begin?

I want to highlight some resources for you to talk to your children about race, racism and diversity.
