NOVEMBER 15, 2020 - CGKIDS

Parents -

Below are some resources for our children in children’s ministry. Please note that our Preschool - 3rd grade children are hearing the same story so that portion of the resources for the Sunday will be the same. The response options are different and have been created to be age appropriate. However, if you choose to reenact the story, you can have all ages participate. If you have multiple children in your family the Godly Play option for the K/1 grade room is a good option to adapt to all family members.

For Our Younger Preschool children:

  1. Pray with your toddler. It can be something simple like - God, thank you for loving us. Thank you for all of your promises that you made and that you keep. Thank you for Jesus. Amen.

  2. Sing Father Abraham. (We talked about him a couple of weeks ago!)

  3. Watch the video above with today’s story.

  4. Color a picture of baby Moses.

For Our Older Preschool Room children:

  1. Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. Thank you for all the people in the Bible. Thanks for all of your promises that you keep!

  2. Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.

  3. Watch the video above of our Godly Play story.

  4. Wonder - Answer the wondering questions on the video.

  5. Respond - Parents - take a brown lunch bag or grocery bag and cut out two tablets. Give it to your preschooler and have them wad it up to make it wrinkled. Unwad the paper (this makes it look older and more stone like). Have them decorate the tablets!

  6. Sing the Ten Commandment Boogie! (You can remind your child that the Ten Best Ways and the Ten Commandments are the same thing!)

For Our Kindergarten and 1st Grade children:

  1. Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. We thank you for the promises that you made to the People of God and to us.

  2. Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.

  3. Watch the video above.

  4. Wonder - answer the wondering questions from the video.

  5. Response- have your child create the favorite object from today’s lesson using supplies at home. Some ideas are: burning bush (tissue paper or chalk on black paper works well for this!); baby Moses in a basket (part of an egg carton makes a good basket and a clothes pin is good for a baby)

  6. Sing the Ten Commandment Boogie! (You can remind your child that the Ten Best Ways and the Ten Commandments are the same thing!)

For Our 2nd and 3rd grade children:

  1. Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. Thank you for sending us your Son, Jesus. Please help us make others aware of Jesus’ love for them and how He gave to save us from our sins.

  2. Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.

  3. Watch the video above.

  4. Wonder about the questions in the video.

  5. Response- have your child create the favorite object from today’s lesson using supplies at home. Some ideas are: burning bush (tissue paper or chalk on black paper works well for this!); baby Moses in a basket (part of an egg carton makes a good basket and a clothes pin is good for a baby)

  6. In your journals, answer the questions that Pastor Erik asked in the service. You can also answer the questions in the Gospel Guide

For Our 4th and 5th Graders:

  1. Have your child pray.

  2. Read Exodus 19:16-25.

  3. Journal - Do you think people were afraid? Would you have been afraid?

  4. Read Exodus 20:1-17. Who does God say He is? What has he done for the people?

  5. Let’s take a deeper look at the commandments. How are the first four similar? What is the same with the other six? Look at the all 10 and write down the ones that help us love God. Write down the ones that help us love others.

  6. Today’s spiritual discipline is study. Do you know what this means? Studying in the spiritual discipline context is learning about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. What did you learn about God in today’s lesson?

I want to highlight some resources for you to talk to your children about race, racism and diversity.
