OCTOBER 11, 2020 - CGKIDS
Parents -
Below are some resources for our children in children’s ministry. Please note that our Preschool - 3rd grade children are hearing the same story so that portion of the resources for the Sunday will be the same. The response options are different and have been created to be age appropriate. However, if you choose to reenact the story, you can have all ages participate. If you have multiple children in your family the Godly Play option for the K/1 grade room is a good option to adapt to all family members.
For Our Younger Preschool children:
Pray with your toddler. It can be something simple like - God, thank you for loving us. Thank you for creating so many wonderful things. We pray that you remind us of your goodness every day. Amen.
Watch the video above with today’s story.
Color a picture of Adam and Eve.
For Our Older Preschool Room children:
Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. Thank you for creating Adam and Eve and for all the true stories in the Bible.
Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.
Watch the video above of our Godly Play story.
Wonder - Answer the wondering questions on the video.

For Our Kindergarten and 1st Grade children:
Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. We thank you for the promises that you made to the People of God and to us.
Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.
Watch the video above.

For Our 2nd and 3rd grade children:
Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. Thank you for sending us your Son, Jesus. Please help us make others aware of Jesus’ love for them and how He gave to save us from our sins.
Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.
Watch the video above.
Wonder about the questions in the video.
Response - I wonder what the tree of life looked like? Use this template and add leaves and what you think the fruit looked like. You can draw or use construction paper or tissue paper if you have it around the house.
In your journals, answer the questions that Pastor Erik asked in the service. You can also answer the questions in the Gospel Guide
For Our 4th and 5th Graders:
Have your child pray.
Read Genesis 2:15-17.
What did God tell Adam? What was the consequence of disobeying God?
Read Genesis 3:1-7. What do you think Adam and Eve were thinking? What could they have done to keep from disobeying God?
Next week, I will have you do an exercise at home. You’ll need some suitcases and something heavy to put in them. Ask your parents ahead of time to borrow them!
One of the spiritual disciplines is confession. Adam and Eve damaged their relationship with God when they sinned. They needed to say they were sorry. Confession is telling the truth or admitting when you have done something wrong.
Journal - have you ever had to say you are sorry? Think about that over the next week and we will continue thinking about confession and how it relates to today’s story again next week.
I want to highlight some resources for you to talk to your children about race, racism and diversity.
This book comes in a kid version and then also has a parent companion book if you are interested.
This book explores how God made us all different.
