APRIL 26, 2020 - CGKIDS
Parents -
Below are some resources for our children in children’s ministry. Please note that our Preschool - 3rd grade children are hearing the same story so that portion of the resources for the Sunday will be the same. The response options are different and have been created to be age appropriate. However, if you choose to reenact the story, you can have all ages participate. If you have multiple children in your family the Godly Play option for the K/1 grade room is a good option to adapt to all family members.
**Special Announcement - Next Sunday(May 3) Pastor Jody is hosting a CGKids Virtual Hangout on Sunday, May 3. Please note the time is still being confirmed and Jody sent out an email to parents regarding the best time to host the event. If 11 am on Sundays is not a good time, please let her know at jody@cgnortheast.org a better alternative. She will collect input!
For Our Toddler children on April 26:
Pray for your toddler. It can be something simple like - God we thank you for today. Thank you for Jesus and we thank you that He is everywhere. He loves me and all my friends!

For Our Preschool Room children on April 26:
Have your child say a prayer before they begin. If they struggle, it can be something simple like: Thank you God for today. We thank you for your Word. Thank you for sending Jesus to die for our sins. Remind of His Resurrection today and the days ahead!
Remind the children that the story they are about to watch is from the Bible.
Watch the video above of our Godly Play story.
Wonder - Have your child wonder what was his/her favorite part of the story. I will mention in the video but will go on to some other questions for the older grades.
Respond to the story - Have your child trace their shoe. If you have scrapbook paper at home, thicker wrapping paper and construction paper you can use it. Help them cut it out. If you have a hole punch and a piper cleaner, you can make the shoe look like a sandal.

Watch the video above of our Godly Play story. Wonder about the story through journaling (see below)
Journal -I wonder what Jesus’ followers thought when they finally recognized Him when He broke bread? I wonder if this reminds you of another story? I wonder what the followers might have said to each other after realizing it was Jesus and seeing Jesus disappear?
Respond to the story - Draw a scene from the story. Use these questions to prompt response: what did it look like on the Road to Emmaus? I wonder what it looked like when they broke bread with Jesus?
Sing Alive.
For Our 4th and 5th Graders on April 26:
Have your child say a prayer before they start.
The next two weeks we are going to talk about Paul because Paul contributed a lot to the new testament and we can’t cover him in just one day! Read Acts 9:1-19.
In your journal, describe Saul. What happened to him? Would you have been Saul’s friend?
Paul became a follower of Jesus and lived a life with God. He did this by practicing spiritual disciplines. We have been studying these throughout the school year in our children’s ministry class. Write down each of these disciplines: Meditation, Prayer, Fasting, Study and Solitude. Next to each one write down how you practice each one. Are there some you haven’t practiced but would like to begin?
