MARCH 15, 2020 - CGYOUTH
Hey Fam!
CG Youth Ministry hopes to equip and support YOU the Family to effectively engage and disciple your child at home in the day to day life. YOU will be the most significant influence in your child’s development. We hope to come along side and help you maximize that time by being confident and prepared. Below, you will find some guiding thoughts on what your child has been learning from CG Youth Ministries and how to engage. You will also find resources to contemplate how you can create a discipleship atmosphere in your home and BE the church as a family in your neighborhoods and communities.
CG YOUTH GATHERINGS:
CG Youth have been marching through a season talking about what it means to listen and hear from God. We are transitioning into a season talking about BEING the church and how we fit into God’s story with our gifts and callings. If your child was present with us when we did Identity Prayer, ask them about what they learned about themselves. (If you desire to do this with your child, email me and I can provide some guidance.) You may also ask your child about the Prayer of Examen. This would be a great discipline and rhythm to create together as a family.
This week, we are talking about the Body and what we learn about knowing and needing each other’s uniqueness and gifting to thrive as a church.
ASK:
What is the Church in your own words? What is the Church’s Purpose in your own words?
Make a list of as many words you can come up with to describe the Church and its purpose
If possible, ask if any of these terms or phrases are backed up with scripture, find it, and write those along with the words.
READ:
1 Corinthians 12 and 13 Video and 1 Corinthians 12-13
What did you observe?
Summarize in your own words the main points in those chapters
Pick out certain phrases, terms, or verses that you found interesting or really important.
DISCUSS:
According to this passage, is community important? Why? What is Paul’s point?
Where do we play a role in community? Do we as individuals matter?
Have everyone share one thing that they see as a gift or Godly characteristic about each person. Make sure everyone shares something for each person. Name some good friends you have and what you see they are gifted in. Name some people who are hard to deal with and annoying and think about some good gifts that they have as well.
If we focused on seeing people for the Godly characteristics and traits they may have in them, how would this change the way we interact with people today, this week?
