PHILIPPIANS 4 : 1-9
The church in Philippians was started by Paul. He was given a dream in the night by God that told him to help the people in their region. Paul's new church plant loved him and helped him as he continued to spread God's word. Jailed for preaching the Gospel, He wrote a letter to the Philippian church to encourage them, challenge them, and urge them to lay down their lives for the cause of Christ.
Questions:
What gives Paul joy?
What does it mean to “rejoice in the Lord”?
What messages do we get from the world that supposedly give us joy? Are these the things Paul specifies?
Connection (within a House Church):
In your group, discuss how Philippians has affected you. Has our group changed? What questions has this raised?
Go Deeper:
Investigate some of the deep convictions that helped Paul be joyful even when he was short of money and facing possible death. (Rom 8:18-30; 2 Cor 4:13-18). Do you believe them?
Memory Verse of the Week:
