APRIL 19, 2020 - CGYOUTH

Hey Fam!

CG Youth Ministry hopes to equip and support YOU the Family to effectively engage and disciple your child at home in the day to day life. YOU will be the most significant influence of your child’s development. We hope to come alongside and help you maximize that time by being confident and prepared. Below, you will find some guiding thoughts on what your child has been learning from CG Youth Ministries and how to engage. You will also find resources to contemplate how you can create a discipleship atmosphere in your home and BE the church as a family in your neighborhoods and communities.

CG YOUTH GATHERINGS

Sunday, April 19

Things can seem a little crazy outside and maybe even crazier inside in isolation. If you are an introvert, you probably love it. If you are an extrovert, I feel ya. Either way, isolation can be a difficult thing to navigate. Regardless, even in difficult times, there are amazing opportunities.

Let’s talk about it: Discussing Isolation with your Youth

Season:

CG Youth is in a season talking about BEING the church and how we fit into God’s story with our gifts and callings.

DO:

This Week

A WORD from Devin Linette...

Ask:

What do you do when you feel lonely or sad? Write down a list of as many things you can think of that you do or have done when you feel this way. Include good and positive responses and also not so good or positive responses.

Am I the only one feeling the need to be encouraged lately?? Needing a reminder to fix my eyes on The Lord during these strange times? I feel that things have been lonely lately. We have lost some connection with friends and family. We celebrated Easter alone in our homes; not with our church family! It’s just a weird feeling. It is isolating. Let’s go to the Bible for our comfort. Let’s go to the Bible for reminders of God’s grace and love. Let’s go to the bible to be reminded that we are never alone. Even when it feels so very lonely…

Read: Psalm 121: 1-8

Pick one verse that speaks loudest to you today. Memorize it. Recite it multiple times. Read it over and over again. Then close your eyes and say it again. Hold this verse in your heart this week.

For me it is verse 7, “The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.”

Discuss:

  • Why does your verse speak to you so strongly?

  • How will you continue to keep it in your heart throughout this week? What discipline will you follow to help you remember God’s promise?

  • What do you feel as you close your eyes and recite your verse? Calm? Peace? Love? Gratitude? For me, I get a sense of comfort and rest.

  • Think of something positive/encouraging that has happened to you or around you lately. Reflect on that. Give thanks to God for that.

  • Spend time this week reading through the Psalms As you come across verses that speak strongly to you, write them down. Recite them. Write down how they make you feel. Keep this list to remind you of God promises whenever you need them.
